Do I need a coach?

People seek coaching for many different reasons. Some require information around their current set up and minimal guidance. For instance, you may already have a stable income, savings, a budget that you stick to, and a few investments you hope will grow, and you simply want to discuss whether the plans you have in place are reasonable to meet your future goals, or if there are ways to elevate your financial wellbeing.
Others may require more support understanding the financial system and how to use financial products to grow their wealth and fund their goals. Some could be facing financial difficulties, debt burdens or have excessive spending habits.
My coaching involves demystifying the world of finance, examining my clients' emotions surrounding their relationship with money and experiences that may be negatively impacting their financial decisions, and helping them gain clarity around their financial goals and how to achieve them. For example, you might want help with your budget, defining financial goals, or procrastination around investing.

Will I have to share details of my finances?

I protect client confidentiality first and foremost. You are not required to share any numbers or documents, unless you feel comfortable to do so. The coaching sessions provide a safe place for you to acknowledge and face your money concerns. You will be given tools and frameworks for you to take away and use in your own time and space.

Is this Financial Advice?

No, there are important differences. Financial advisers provide "financial advice" which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Most financial advisers will require you to come with your finances in order and goals clearly defined so that they can help you select financial products to match your individual needs.
Coaching will provide basic financial literacy to ensure you understand your financial position, how to budget effectively, identify and address your money mindset issues, and attain clarity over your financial goals and how to achieve them. We can provide some financial help and guidance but this is not regulated financial advice.
Unlike financial advisers we will not suggest specific financial products such as pensions, investments, insurance or mortgages. We will not suggest changes to your existing products. We can offer generic money guidance such as guiding you through the options available to fund your life goals or helping you understand the features of financial products, and wealth growth and protection strategies.
Our services are not regulated by the FCA. We can help you understand the different types of financial advice available, including any free advice agencies, and signpost to relevant and helpful websites, including those where you can search for a regulated adviser who can help if you have particular or complex circumstances.
Many clients use financial coaching to help them prepare for meetings with a Financial Advisor or to complement the service provided by their financial adviser or investment manager. Following our initial consultation we will be able to decide whether a financial adviser would be better suited to your needs.
